To get some feeling for the
differences between a 1945 IQ test for college students and equivalent
tests today, here are 10 examples of questions that are very similar
to those appearing in 1945. There were 90 questions on that test,
to be answered in 30 minutes. These would be questions typical
of that test, except that, tonight, I can't include graphical
questions. These tests were accurate in their day. It may be noted
that the types of questions on them are slanted toward crystallized
intelligence rather than fluid intelligence. For this reason,
they might not be as subject as other tests to the Flynn Effect.
I believe this test went up to an IQ of 160.
A full-blown, 90-item test could probably
be arranged. I would have to depend upon its near-identity with
one of the original tests, or to an informal norming to establish
IQ scores for it. Please write me or post a message on the bulletin
board if you'd like to see such thing. Another option would be
to honestly norm, and if necessary, enhance, some of the IQ tests
that are currently available over the Internet.
